Welcome to Adamstown New Lambton Little Athletics

Thanks to Justin Jefferson our resident photographer and parent of two of our athletes for the photos in the the revolving image above.
Adamstown New Lambton Little Athletics Centre runs events for Tiny Tots (3-4 yrs) through to Under 17's. The emphasis at all times is on fun and personal achievements.
Our competition time for all age groups is Friday evenings from 5:15PM at Alder Park New Lambton (5:00PM Prior Daylight Savings). Tiny Tots is generally complete by about 6:30PM and these children participate in long jump, throws, mini hurdles and running activities without results being recorded. Children born on or after 1st October 2008 are too young for Little Athletics in the 2011-1012 season. Many of the older age groups do not finish until about 7:30 - 8:00PM, with all age groups from U/6 to U/17 doing structured athletics events.
Some coaching is provided by the club on Tuesday afternoons at Alder Park however there is no requirement to attend. Many children do no training at all while others seek out their own coaches. Numerous different coaches offer training at various locations including the Hunter Sports Centre at Glendale on various afternoons. For us as a club it is more about providing a fun and enjoyable environment for the kids and allowing those with exceptional talent to progress largely of their own accord, but certainly with encouragement.
This year the season will start 23rd September 2011 and conclude 16th March 2012.
New athletes are welcome to come along to any club evening. You can register on the night or sign up for a two week trial. To avoid delays on Friday competition nights we urge you to attend one of our registration days as detailed on our Registration page.
Please remember.....
Little Athletics is centred on the mantra of participation and enjoyment and the vast majority of our members are unlikely to achieve success at a high level. Many have no such aspirations and are more than happy just being part of the great social group that we have. Our aim is to provide a relaxed and fun environment with an emphasis on participation while also providing suitable encouragement and assistance to those who wish to extend their ability. This philosophy has proven extremely successful over the past few years during which we have seen high numbers of athletes as members of our club as well as great success at higher levels of competition. Whether you are a parent, other family member or competitor - Don't take it too seriously. Focus on fun and enjoyment.
There is plenty of opportunity in life to be serious about serious things. Little Athletics is NOT one of those things.
The following is taken directly from the LAANSW web site........
“ Remember, when kids play sport - they are not a team of professionals - don’t deprive them of the opportunity to be kids. When you start getting too serious about a kid’s game, for heaven’s sake walk away. You will inevitably be more worried about what is happening than the kids.” (Baker, Denis; ‘Winning is Kid’s Stuff’, 1988 Collins Dove, Victoria)
